Striped Shirt, White Tank, and Barrel Jeans

The open front leaves the tank and belt visible, so the shirt does not cover the entire upper half of the jeans. Barrel denim is roomy at the thigh and curves inward near the ankle; that shape carries a wide shirt without leaving the outfit equally broad from shoulder to shoe.

Do not automatically buy two or three sizes larger. Compare the pit-to-pit width, shoulder width, and back length with a loose shirt already in the closet. An oversized chest with an excessively long hem can cover the cargo pockets and spoil the clean separation between the two pieces.
